Yellow Fever is a viral illness transmitted by mosquitoes. It is found in tropical and subtropical areas of South America and Africa but
not in Asia. The initial symptoms of this disease usually consist of nausea, fever and bodily pain. In some cases (15%) this may be
followed by a toxic phase which features bleeding, liver damage and jaundice (thus the name yellow fever). Fifty percent of people
entering the toxic phase will have a fatal outcome.
The vaccination for yellow fever lasts 10 years. A certificate is required for
travelling to and from affected countries. Only certain medical clinics are permitted to administer the vaccination, which is generally
safe and painless. The cost of the vaccination at our clinic is $60.
